F.A.Q.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup using a disposable handheld microblade to tattoo individual, realistic hair strokes under the epidermis layer of the skin. Due to precise placement of pigments that match the color and coarseness of your eyebrows, microblading results in more even, fuller, natural-looking brows.

Is microblading permanent?

No, it is semi-permanent, lasting between 1 to 2 years depending on the person's lifestyle, skin type and skin care routine.

General rule of thumb for touch-ups:

Lighter shades (10-12 months), Midtones (12 - 16 months), Dark shades (12 -24 months).  This is ONLY a general guideline!

Pigments will slowly fade over time due to multiple factors and you may need to powder and/or pencil your eyebrows a bit even after the healed results.

What are Ombre` and Powder Brows?

These two methods are both very similar. Both give you a soft solid powdery "make-up look" but the Ombre` look gives you more of a gradient look from the tail of the brow with very light shaded heads of the brow, while the powder brow remains the same shade throughout the entire brow.  This method is done with a machine similar to tattooing and will last 2-3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and skin care routine.  Touch ups and color boost are suggested every 12-18 months to maintain a fresh Designer Brow look.

What are Combination Brows?

The best of both services.  You get microblade hair like strokes at the head of the brow followed by machine powder brows for the body and tail of the brow. This method is done with a machine similar to tattooing and will last 2-3 years depending on your skin type, lifestyle and skin care routine.  Touch ups and color boost are suggested every 12-18 months to maintain a fresh Designer Brow look.

Is microblading safe?

Yes, if conducted by a trained professional following proper safety measures. We adhere to the strictest of sanitation and sterilization protocols. We use only sterile, single-use tools at the onset of each session, and our treatment room is sanitized to protect against contamination. Although allergic reactions to pigments are very rare, we do offer an allergy patch-test prior to procedure as an added safeguard. We also urge you to strictly follow our pre and post care instructions to ensure proper healing and avoid infection.

Does microblading work on all skin tones?

Yes. We are experts at blending pigments for every skin tone and will discuss which color best pairs with your skin’s undertones.

Can microblading hide scars?

Yes, however, please send us a picture of your eyebrows without makeup before booking an appointment so we can ensure you are a suitable candidate for microblading.

Does microblading hurt?

Numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure to alleviate discomfort. Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but it is often said to be more uncomfortable than painful. Some compare it to the sensations of plucking, waxing, scratching or vibrations. Yet, others report feeling nothing at all.

How long is the procedure?

The procedure is split into two appointments: Initial and Follow-up.

Initial appointments are approximately 2.5 hours. The microblading procedure is approximately 1 hour, and the surrounding time is generally spent administering anesthesia, reviewing before and after pictures, discussing color options, eyebrow shapes, and any questions you may have, and pre-drawing the final look for your approval.

The follow-up appointment is approximately 1.5 hour and should be scheduled 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment. It is crucial you attend the touch-up treatment as results will not be optimal without it. It is here where we can learn how your skin responds to the pigmentation and make any necessary adjustments.

How long is the healing process?

Immediately after the procedure, some may experience slight swelling and redness that will disappear within a few hours or by the next day. Below is a general guideline of what you can expect.

Day 1:  Beautiful crisp microbladed eyebrows that may be a shade darker than you expected.

Day 2- 7: Microbladed hair strokes will appear twice as thick, and the applied color will appear twice as dark. Please DO NOT PANIC as this is normal.

Day 7-12: Your eyebrows will begin to scab over. Please do not scratch or pick at them as you will remove the implanted pigments.

Day 12-21: The microbladed hair strokes will begin to fade and appear much lighter than before. Again, please DO NOT WORRY as this is normal. Be patient as the color will come back on its own.

Day 21-28: The implanted pigments will begin to resurface. At this point, you will see the results of the first session.

Day 45-60: During this time, the follow-up appointment will take place to perfect your final result.

Remember, it is imperative you follow our aftercare instructions to heal properly and achieve the best results.

My eyebrows have been microbladed/tattooed by a different artist. Do you do correction work?

Yes,however you must set a consultation so we can discuss and analyze if correction can be achieved or if removal is necessary.

What is the aftercare?

Aftercare information can be found here. It is important you strictly adhere to these instructions.

Failure to do so could result in infection, in which case, please consult your doctor and contact me if you have any concerns during your healing process.
